Weaving Take Over!
Students studied Fiber Art in this unit by looking at knitters around the world who participate in ‘yarn storming’ a form of installation artwork placed around an urban environment. Students discussed why knitters would cover something with colorful yarn in the city (to brighten up an otherwise gray city!). Students were introduced to the basics of creating a weaving using a cardboard loom. Students were then shown more advance techniques and were required to combine three pieces together. Last students learned how to embroider their name onto their pieces using a drapery needle.
