Fourth Grade Art
My Dynamic Hero
Students begin the year by studying various art pieces by Jacque Louis David. Students discussed the people in his paintings and how he portrayed them as his heroes. Students next practiced a drawing technique called gesturing. Students practiced drawing other students in dynamic (action!) poses very quickly. Students then chose a hero of their choice and illustrated him/her through dynamic pose demonstrating their heroism.

We then practiced drawing them in our sketchbook using the style of our artist Jose Guadalupe Posada as inspiration. After we finished our sketch we carefully traced it onto a stryofoam plate. Then we created a colorful background using markers and produced a relief print through printmaking.
