Lenticular Portraiture
Students studied artwork created by ROA and Mentalgassi who create lenticular creations on the streets of England. Students began this project by created a black and white self portrait of themselves by following a grid. Students practiced creating a realistic drawing of themselves by using value and attention to detail. Next students created a second self portrait of themselves without actually drawing themselves. Students incorporated popular culture imagery, symbolism, and color expression to represent their identity. Next Ms. Zuniga cut our portraits into two inch sections, demonstrated how to construct the build of our project, but ultimately left the problem solving up to the students. Students had to find a way to successfully display their artwork through exploration of materials and successes of other students.
