Fish Sculptures
Students learned about various fish from a variety of environments and how their characteristics relate to their surroundings. Students then identified various patterns that fish have and created a fish that incorporated a minimum of 2 patterns. Students then traced the patterns using crayons, cut the front and back of the fish out, and drew matching patterns on the back side. We discussed the concept of mirroring objects and how to make things symmetrical. Students then painting their fish using watercolor paint and stuffed them with newspapers to create fish sculptures.
