Animal Environments
In this lesson, students learned how to draw animals by breaking them up into shapes and observing their features. Students chose an animal, drew it, and gave it a human characteristic.
Once the animals were complete, students learned about environments and the art element of space. Students identified the background, middle ground, and foreground of the famous painting "A Sunday Afternoon in the Park." Students then created an environment that included a foreground, middle ground, and background, for their animal to live in. Students then learned how to correctly use painting materials and added a watercolor wash to their environment drawing.
