Kandinsky Abstract Line Exploration
Students learned about Wassily Kandinsky and his use of abstract art and music. Students also watched the YouTube video "A Dot Goes for a Walk" to learn about various types of line. Students then used watercolor pencil to color and paint their designs.

Watercolor Resist Self portraiture
Students created their first self portrait in crayon through observation of details in a mirror. Students learned about watercolor resit through the incorporation of watercolor paint on their crayon self portraits.

Shapes MAKE Animals!
Students reviewed shapes in the classroom to create animals through a series of "how to draw..." handouts. Students then used animal photos as references to draw their large animals using shapes to draft.

I'm a Designer! Cut Paper Playgrounds
Students learned about the art career of Architecture and Design. Students read the book "Playground Day" and talked about their favorite playground equipment to play on. Students designed their own "Peck Playground" through using cut paper.

My Self Portrait: Night Versus Day
Students learned about self portraits artists make and why through various artist styles. Students learned about basic proportion through follow along demonstration and handouts. Students compared and contrasted light and dark through the observation of day and night time. Students created a self portrait of themselves during the day and night through detail and color choice.
