Day of the Dead Printmaking
Día de los Muertos or The Day of the Dead is a Mexican tradition that honors the dead. We brainstormed important people in our lives as well as throughout history and picked our favorite hero. We then practiced drawing them in our sketchbook using the style of our artist Jose Guadalupe Posada as inspiration. After we finished our sketch we carefully traced it onto a stryofoam plate. Then we created a colorful background using markers and produced a relief print through printmaking.
We even went on a field trip to The National Museum of Mexican Art to further our learning on the celebration!
